Newton North girls soccer enters the 2026 season ranked sixth in the Bay State Conference, according to MassLive's preseason power rankings published Thursday, Sept. 10.

The ranking reflects a 2025 postseason run that carried the Tigers deep into the state tournament despite a 5-8-7 regular-season record. Newton North earned the No. 15 seed in the MIAA Division I state tournament, won its first-round game and then traveled to Attleboro to face No. 2 seed Bishop Feehan, which entered at 17-0-1.

The game went to penalties. Newton North had held the Shamrocks scoreless through 100 minutes of regulation and overtime despite being outshot 20-4, according to the Boston Globe's tournament coverage. Feehan junior Alicia Schneider scored in the fifth round of the penalty shootout to end the Tigers' season 1-0.

"The Tigers advanced to the D-I Round of 16 last year and pushed No. 2 seed Bishop Feehan to the brink with a penalty shootout," MassLive's Kyle Grabowski wrote in the rankings.

BSC teams have won three consecutive Division I state championships: Natick in 2023 and 2025, Wellesley in 2024. Nine of the conference's 10 teams qualified for the 2025 state tournament.

Needham tops the 2026 rankings after going 17-4-1 and earning the No. 1 seed in last fall's D-I tournament. The Rockets return Eastern Mass. All-Stars Izzy Marino and Syd Kalaw. Defending state champion Natick sits second after going 15-3-3 in 2025, followed by Wellesley, Braintree and Walpole.

Newton North's No. 6 slot places the Tigers ahead of Milton, Brookline, Weymouth and Framingham. No Newton North players appeared on MassLive's companion list of nine BSC players to watch in 2026.
