Hugh Jackman will take the stage at Conte Forum on Friday, Sept. 25, headlining the 34th Annual Pops on the Heights scholarship gala on the Boston College campus in Chestnut Hill.

The Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award-winning performer will be joined by Patrick Vaccariello, his personal music director for roughly 15 years and the music director of the annual Tony Awards since 2014. The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, conducted by Keith Lockhart, will back the performance alongside BC's "Screaming Eagles" marching band, the University Chorale, and student soloist Joseph Gilhooly, a member of BC's Class of 2027.

The Heights, Boston College's student newspaper, announced the lineup Monday, Aug. 3.

A Chestnut Hill tradition since 1993

Formally known as Pops on the Heights: the Barbara and Jim Cleary Scholarship Gala, the event was founded in 1993 by BC Trustee James F. Cleary '50 and his wife Barbara. That first concert raised nearly $800,000. Over three decades, the gala has grown into one of the university's largest fundraising events, generating more than $160 million for student financial aid and supporting more than 3,500 scholarships.

Last year's gala, headlined by country duo Dan + Shay, raised $12.3 million. The single-year record remains $14.5 million, set at the 29th annual event in 2021. Lockhart has conducted the Boston Pops at the gala every year since 1996.

The concert is held annually during BC's Family Weekend and draws alumni, parents, students, and community members from the surrounding Chestnut Hill and Newton neighborhoods. Past headliners have included Jennifer Hudson, Josh Groban, Kristin Chenoweth, Harry Connick Jr., and Train.
