Newton North’s boys soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against Needham on Thursday, Oct. 8, while the Tigers’ girls soccer and volleyball teams lost their Bay State Conference matchups.

Needham beat Newton North 2-0 in girls soccer, and Wellesley swept the Tigers 3-0 in volleyball.

Boys soccer earns a draw

Newton North and Needham finished level at 1-1, according to MaxPreps’ updated schedule.

The result left the Tigers at 4-4-4 overall in the games recorded by MaxPreps. It was their fourth draw of the season, following ties against Cambridge Rindge & Latin, Wellesley and Framingham.

Newton North entered Thursday’s match after a 3-2 loss to Natick on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Earlier in the month, the Tigers tied Framingham 1-1 and beat Newton South 3-0.

Goal scorers from the Needham match were not listed in the available results.

Girls soccer falls to Needham

Needham shut out Newton North 2-0, according to MassLive’s game listing.

The Tigers had beaten Brookline and Framingham by identical 2-0 scores in late September and early October. Thursday’s loss gave the Rockets the win in the teams’ latest conference meeting.

Wellesley sweeps volleyball

Wellesley beat Newton North 3-0, a result listed on The Boston Globe’s volleyball scoreboard.

The loss followed Newton North’s five-set defeat at Needham on Tuesday, Oct. 6. As The Needham Channel reported, the Rockets rallied from an 8-2 deficit in the deciding set to win 17-15.

Newton North finished last season as the MIAA Division 1 runner-up. The Tigers lost the championship match to Franklin in five sets, according to MIAA’s championship recap.
