Newton’s Development Review Team is scheduled to review a proposed 20-unit residential development at 723–727 Washington St. on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The proposal includes 20 parking spaces at a Ward 2 site listed as Business Use 2/Village Center 2, according to the city’s DRT schedule, cited by Fig City News. The schedule does not identify the applicant.
The meeting is a preliminary staff review. City employees from several departments meet with prospective applicants to evaluate proposals and identify issues before permitting, according to Newton’s review instructions.
Two other proposals are listed for review that day.
At 0 Charles St. in Ward 4, an applicant seeks a special permit to exceed the allowed build factor and create a buildable lot.
At 440 Wolcott St., also in Ward 4, the proposal seeks a special permit for a rear-lot subdivision and a variance allowing the existing house to remain on a lot with nonconforming area, side setback and lot coverage.
The city cautions that DRT schedules are compiled before meetings occur. Proposals may change, and meetings can be canceled or replaced.
Residents seeking details can contact the Planning Department and ask to speak with a land use planner. The cited schedule does not list subsequent review dates for the Washington Street proposal.
