A car crashed into the pro shop at Brae Burn Country Club on Fuller Street in West Newton on Saturday, Sept. 19, sending three people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened around noon, according to WCVB. Lt. Hagai Brandon of the Newton Police Department said the driver and two pro shop employees were taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Brandon said.
Surveillance video showed the car going up on a curb in the parking lot before it crashed through a wall of the pro shop, the New York Post reported. The car passed behind two employees who were inside at the time. The vehicle was a white Mercedes, according to the Post's report, which cited the footage.
The Newton Fire Department and the city engineer responded to assess the building's structure after the crash. They determined the damaged wall could safely be boarded up, and the repair has since been completed, according to NBC Boston.
Newton police said the crash does not appear to be criminal, according to Patch. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor. Investigators believe operator error caused the crash, though the investigation remains open.
Brae Burn Country Club, which opened in 1897 and once hosted the U.S. Open, sits in the West Newton neighborhood along Fuller Street.
