Republican Tom Stalcup is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Jake Auchincloss in Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. Both are listed in the state’s official candidate roster.
Stalcup’s campaign biography describes him as a physicist and entrepreneur who leads a company making environmental monitoring equipment.
Prescription prices and affordability
Stalcup’s campaign platform centers on lowering healthcare and prescription-drug costs. He calls for broad drug-price negotiation without limits on which medicines can be included, and argues that costs should be reduced at their source rather than shifted among patients, employers and taxpayers.
He also emphasizes evidence-based policymaking and a less divisive approach to politics. His campaign identifies housing and healthcare affordability as concerns for families and municipalities.
Implementation and local effects
Expanded federal negotiation could affect drug costs for residents and health plans, but the platform reviewed does not supply a complete legislative design, implementation budget or estimate of savings for local households. Its affordability goals should not be treated as guaranteed reductions in premiums or pharmacy bills.
A House member can introduce bills, vote on federal spending and conduct oversight. Major changes to federal drug-pricing law require approval by Congress and the president, or enough votes to override a veto.
The Newton Record did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
